DUNE RATS – Brisbane, Australia 14th September 2019
Want a show that will knock your damn socks off? Well, Dune Rats does not disappoint! These homegrown legends are back on their turf as part of their ‘Crowd Smurfing’ Tour and to celebrate the release of the new single ‘Rubber Arm.
From giant inflatable fruit and raised middle fingers to literal crowd surfing (on actual surfboards), this show was super fun from the moment they hit the stage at The Triffid on Saturday night.
Fusing garage rock and punk, Dune Rats pumped out tunes that had the crowd looking like nothing but a sea of bouncing heads and raised hands as they blasted all the favourites, old and new. Danny, BC and Brett absolutely owned the stage with their energetic madness and Australia-relevant tongue-in-cheek banter, while fans climbed onto each other’s shoulders to scream along to anthems such as ‘Bullshit’ and ‘No Plans’.
For a band that’s all about getting messy, their music was tighter than a gnat’s chuff and gave off that happy rock vibe that they’re so well known for. This concert was incredibly entertaining and absolutely spectacular, not to mention both levels packed with elated concert-goers and insanely outstanding lighting (shout out to those techs).
Like the boys said on stage “Nailed it” , we wish them all the best for the rest of their tour and can’t wait to catch them again next time.
